A child is naturally radiant, aware, and full of innocent wisdom. The deeper purpose of teaching children yoga is to help them maintain their natural wisdom and radiance; or if their light has been dulled by events in their lives, to help them regain their inherent state of being. From the Radiant Child website, with whom I trained to teach children’s yoga.

Kids of all ages love yoga. It makes them feel happy, calm, relaxed and confident. My recent work with 60 children in yr 6 at Heron Primary School in Gloucester and 70 children in year 5 at Lord Scudamore Primary school has been hugely rewarding as boys and girls alike tell me and their class mates how yoga makes them feel. Visit my schools pages for more info, but to get an idea of how some of them felt…

‘So, so, so great! It was fab! It made me feel great, I loved it, it was so great!’  Lee, aged 11, Heron Primary School

Yoga offers young people of all ages a sense of peace, grounding, self-love and self-confidence, while they develop balance, strength and flexibility. It helps them to release anger and stress, develops their emotional intelligence and their understanding and expression of who they truly are, regardless of peer pressure and expectations. Yoga is also particularly helpful in addressing behavioural issues, stress or unmanageable temper tantrums.

Visit my tots to teens page for details of what a yoga class might look like for your aged child or pupil, and to find out more about how it can help them.
